The 13th Amendment was meant to abolish slavery, instead using a clever little work-around slavery is alive and well in the United States and is flourishing in its ever-growing prison system.
13th is a documentary centring around the passing of the 13th Amendment to the American Constitution in 1865 which states:
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
